Bubbling UK prospect, Ed Arthur has defeated Martin Akhtar in Sweden to capture the Superior Challenge Bantamweight title. With the likes of Luke Barnatt, Brad Pickett, Ross Pearson, and Michael Bisping all losing in recent weeks, undefeated Arthur (5-0) has shown UK MMA still has a bright future by defeated tough Sweden Akhtar in his home country to win the 135lb strap.

The opening frame start with Arthur catching a nice takedown on his Swedish opponent. Akhtar was able to defend well though, getting the fight back to the feet and landing a take down of his own. Arthur showed he was just as versed in defense as he is in attack quickly getting up from Akhtar's takedown before landing another takedown. Arthur began working on the ground moving into side-control where he went for a guillotine but failed to secure it. Arthur continued to work from Akhtar's guard to see out the opening round.

Round two starts with the fighters pushing the action against the cage and to the ground, where they fought for top posistion. Arthur worked his way to Akhtar's back and tried for a rear-naked-choke but gave it up in favour of a full mount. After landing some shots, Arthur moved back to the back of Akhtar again looking for the rear-naked-choke but Akhtar was wise to it and defended well, managing to stand up.  As the round went on Akhtar caught Arthur with an elbow to the back of the head just before the round finished which the referee took a point from Akhtar for.

The final round start with Arthur securing an early takedown where he was able to find the back of Akhtar once more. after peppering the Swede with some shots, Arthur went for the choke once more. Akhtar defends well again and manages to get to his feet and land a solid knee in the forehead of Arthur before Brit takes him down once more. The round ends with with a struggle for position on the ground which Arthur got the better of.

With a unanimous decision win over Akhtar, Arthur moves to 5-0 in his professional career and is likely to have a big 2015 as the bantamweight champion of rising Swedish promotion, Superior Challenge, a promotion who has has already had big name fighters on the cards such as: Efrain Escudero, Danny Mitchel, Ilir Latifi, Marcus Davis, Jeremy Horn, and many more, in just 11 fight cards.
