If you want a chance of winning some money then have a look at who you might want to pick, here are Kingdom MMA’s predictions, our ‘favourite five’ for this Kountermove tournament.
1. Benson Henderson ($5800) - With future title implications in the balance, neither Benson Henderson (21-3) and Rafael dos Anjos (21-7) can afford a loss. Henderson is coming off an impressive submission victory over Rustam Khabilov. Dos Anjos has won three of his last four, which include Jason High, Donald Cerrone and Evan Dunham.
Ever since his loss to Pettis, we've seen a different Benson Henderson, much less apprehensive and not afraid to engage with opponents. Dos Anjos has superb Brazilian jiu-jitsu; where he holds a blackbelt, which could prove difficult, however with Henderson's size, he is rarely kept on the mat for very long.
2. Mike Pyle ($4500) - 38 year old Mike Pyle (26-9-1) has cemented himself as one of the toughest guys in the UFC Welterweight division, having only lost twice in three years. Jordan Mein (28-9) has done similar, having been prominent under Strikeforce's banner, and now in the UFC. Both fighters share the commonality of being knocked out by Matt Brown in their most recent defeats.
Arguably the toughest fight to call on the card, both men are very similar in both the standing and ground departments. However, one would have to give the advantage to Pyle, purely through experience. If he can avoid Mein's vicious combinations then he should take the fight.
3. Thales Leites ($4600) - After an impressive win in Abu Dhabi against Trevor Smith earlier this year, Thales Leites (23-4) turns his attention to Tristar's Francis Carmont (22-9). With Carmont on a two fight dead streak, another loss here to Leites could prove one too many for the Frenchman.
In the past, Carmont has struggled when he has failed to push the pace in fights. Leites, although not always the aggressor, is extremely calculated with his attacks, making them count. As well as Leites' extensive BJJ background, Carmont, although likely to take the fight to ground, may not find success.
4. Max Holloway ($4700) - Only 22 years of age, Holloway (9-3) already qualifies as a UFC veteran with eight fights already under his belt. Meanwhile, 13-4 Clay "Cassius" Collard is making his UFC debut. Holloway is coming off back-to-back wins over Will Chope and Andre Fili, as well as holding his own against Conor McGregor in August last year.
Holloway is a safe bet in this fight, although Collard has fierce knockout ability, Holloway's awkward and testing style should see him take this one.
5. Alex Garcia ($5100) - Tristar Gym's very own Alex Garcia (12-1) makes his third UFC appearance facing very tough Brazilian jiu-jitsu brown belt, Neil Magney (11-3). Garcia is currently riding a six fight win streak, with two of those under the UFC banner, recently beating Sean Spencer at UFC 171. Magney is coming off three big UFC wins, including a hard fought decision victory over Tim Means.
Garcia may be a pricey $5100 but he is sure to return in dividend. Although Magney is a grinding fighter, if Garcia can utilise his superior standup, he should get the win.
