Bubba Jenkins vs Georgi Karakhanyan added to Bellator 2015 season opener

Bellator MMA officials have announced the co-main event for the Bellator season opener, Pitbull vs Straus as featherweights collides when Bubba "The Highlight Kid" Jenkins (8-1) takes on Georgi "Insane" Karakhanyan (23-4-1) which takes place on Friday, Jan. 16, at Pechanga Casino Resort in Temecula, Calif.

The Bellator Featherweight World Title will be on the line in the main event, as Brazilian Patricio Pitbull (22-2) defends his gold against former champion Daniel Straus (23-5).

The former Arizona State University NCAA Division I wrestler Jenkins has already fought six times under the Bellator banner and is considered one of the top prospects in the 145lb division, and currently stands at 2-0 mark since dropping down from lightweight.

Karakhanyan makes his Bellator return after nearly three years away from the promotion. The two-time featherweight tournament contender went 9-1 in his time away from the promotion and picked up title belts in World Series of Fighting and Tachi Palace Fights.
