Introducing... Cory McKenna

by Ben Heather @benheather

To become a British champion at one martial art is very impressive and deserves a lot of credit. However, to become the British and English Muay Thai champion as well as a British champion at BJJ is incredible and that is exactly what Cory McKenna has done at only 15 years old. Add in to this the fact that she also competes in boxing and MMA and you start to get an understanding of the dedication this athlete puts in to improving her skills.

At just 15 years old McKenna is one of the top prospects for the future of UK MMA and is certainly a name to remember. McKenna started out trying her hand at karate and after a few years of training decided to up her training by taking up Muay Thai and BJJ as well. In the two years she has been training both disciplines she has already been crowned British champion in both.

Earlier this year McKenna had her first amateur MMA fight at BCMMA 8 which she won via third round TKO. It was a very dominant display and she controlled the fight for the majority of the three rounds before finally getting the finish late in the third round.

Training out of BKK Fighters McKenna is coached by and trains with some of the best fighters in the UK with guys like Jack Mason, Arnold Allen, Sean Carter and Jason Cooledge helping her with her amateur career it is no wonder we are looking at a star of the future.

Unfortunately Cory will not be competing this weekend now as her planned fight in Belfast has been postponed until February.
