Inside the cage fans know everything about fighters, their prominent style, strengths and weaknesses, however we tend to forget that these men and women have lives outside of beating the living day lights out of each other. In the first edition of "Outside The Cage" we take a deeper look in to the everyday lives of Jack Marshman and Che Mills before their upcoming fight at Cage Warriors 72. Forget boxing vs muay thai, Wales vs England its about to get personal as we ask both men 5 questions which will let us all get to know these great fighters a bit better.
First up, what would you say was your favourite fight and why?
Mills: Good question, I would probably say my last fight to be honest (against Leeroy Barnes).
A lot of people have told me it was a dominant performance and a lot of people write Leeroy Barnes off a lot of the time as his record is up and down but if you look in more detail, he hasn't been finished too often and he is a really tough guy who doesn't get a lot of credit for the skill set that he has. So for me to go in there and do what I did after such a bad year with the pressure that was on me to perform that well and kinda say I'm still here. For me it was definitely my career highlight.
Marshman: I'll go for one of the ones that I've won. Back when I was an amateur I fought the same guy twice, Dave Coles and he's a BJJ blackbelt. We had two fights, both went the distance and they were knock down drag out fights but I really enjoyed them.
What is your favourite film?
Mills: I've got a couple but i would have to say the Lord of the Rings trilogy, I'm a nerd like that.
Marshman: Man On Fire
What is your favourite TV Show?
Mills: Game of Thrones without a doubt.
Marshman: Its a toss up between The Chase and Tipping Point but I will have to go with Tipping Point.
Who is your favourite band/ artist?
Mills: Vybz Kartel obviously coming from a Jamaican family i listen to a lot of reggae and that's my favourite at the minute.
Marshman: Its a tough one really but ill go for Kings Of Leon
Finally what was is your biggest inspiration?
Mills: I would have to say my son, just being a parent and looking at my son everyday. I guess every parent will tell you the same. To me personally there is nothing more inspiring than hearing your son happy and knowing that he relies on you so I have to work hard. So everyday its an inspiration.
Marshman: Just to make a better life for myself. I had a good career in the army and now I want to do the same with fighting.
