UFC 177 Betting Tips

by Will Martin @BIGBILBAR7MMA

A rematch of the biggest upset of 2014 takes place this upcoming Saturday from Sacramento, California as the UFC Bantamweight champion TJ Dillashaw tries to defend his belt against the man he dethroned back at UFC 173. UFC 177 has received some heat as the card is not what you would class as a Pay Per View but there are some fun match ups and the odds are very good indeed . Last week was a great week if you followed my bets with two of the three I announced coming in so I'm here to try and continue the momentum and win you all some money.

Note, these tips are for guidance only. Please bet sensible and only if you can afford to lose - I will not be held responsible, if you lose you house, wife, dignity or self respect.

The first bet I'm going to put out is a five fighter parlay

Chris Wade 4/5
Anthony Hamilton 1/2
Anthony Birchak EVS
Bethe Correia 8/11
TJ Dillashaw  8/11

This looks a very good Parlay with in my opinion only one true risky pick, that being Chris Wade. However, I'm hoping his wrestling pedigree comes through against the unbeaten Cain Carrizosa. Anthony Hamilton should have more than enough to put away Ruan Potts while the Anthony Birchak v Joe Soto is a very fun match up of two former champions of other organisations outside the UFC but Birchak should just have the edge everywhere in this match up. TJ Dillashaw and Bethe Correia are favourites but not by much but if it comes down to these last 2 fights I'm extremely confident this bet may come off. A healthy £5 bet gives you a payback of £81 pound which is a decent return so if anybody puts this on...Good luck.

Up next is a pretty risky treble but sometimes you need to take the risk to get the rewards.

Damon Jackson 9/10
Lorenz Larkin  EVS
Under 2.5 rounds Nijem v Ferreira 11/10

So this Treble starts off with the former Legacy Featherweight Champion Damon Jackson moving up to Lightweight on 9 days notice to face Yancy Mederios in his UFC debut. Jackson is a former all American wrestler from Missouri valley. He has some fantastic timing and footwork to get his takedowns and then that's when his game really comes to light a purple belt in Jiu-Jitsu "The Leech" lives by his nickname as he just sticks to you and is very hard to move especially from the mount. Jackson has two wins via Arm Triangle and I would not be surprised if this happens again.

Next up a fight I was going to stay away from but went back against my decision as I have taken Lorenz Larkin to beat the very durable Derek Brunson. Brunson who will have the wrestling advantage will look to take this fight to the mat but Larkin has very good takedown defence and if he can stop the takedown he should dominate on the feet.

The final piece of the treble is Carlos Diego Ferreira to stop Ramsey Nijem inside 2.5 rounds Ferreira who is undefeated is a whizz when it comes to the ground game with six of his ten wins coming via submission and he will look to take Nijem there and finish him for his second UFC victory so it is a risky pick but one I can see coming through. A £5 treble pays back £40 so this is a bet I will personally be placing, as I do like the risky bet so good luck with that if you decide to go with it.

I have two bets left to offer, one of them is my choice for the underdog of the card and the second is a pretty sweet looking bet on the method of victory.

My Underdog pick of UFC 177 for me is hometown boy Danny Castillo, who I was a little surprised to see him as such a big underdog although Tony Ferguson has looked very good in his past few encounters i think Castillo is more than capable of stopping Ferguson's weapons and riding out a decision victory and at 7/4 i see some value in this.

My Last bet for UFC 177 is Team Alpha Male standout and UFC champion TJ Dillashaw to beat Renan Barao via KO/TKO and retain his title considering we have already seen TJ do this to Barao before i think a repeat performance is a definite possibility and at 9/2 its time to lump on and win big.

Good Luck
