Check out how to join our Kountermove “pick ‘em” tournament for Bellator 123
by Andreas Georgiou - @AGeorgiouMMAKingdom MMA brings you its fourth Kountermove tournament this weekend following a successful week of double header action, but for any newcomers who have a few questions, here is the essential information. Kountermove is simply a form of fantasy MMA, pick a team of fighters who you think will win and your chosen fighters are awarded points based on strikes, takedowns and rounds won etc.
You can join our Kountermove tournament for Bellator 123 with a chance to win $25 right here: http://www.kountermove.com/draft/31829-kingdommmas-25-bellator-123-curran-vs-pitbull-2-freeroll-game-on-bellator-123-curran-vs-pitbull-2-T-free/325858/
If you want to win a bit of money but you need some guidance then take a look at Kingdom MMA’s predictions, our ‘favourite five’ below, a few fighters who you may fancy picking.
1. Pat Curran ($5300) - After a calf injury saw Curran (20-5) pull out of their fight at Bellator 121, the two face off Friday night and Pitbull (21-2) looks to exact revenge from his previous close decsion loss to Curran last year.
Curran is a solid pick for this week's Kountermove game, and despite being the slower starter, his cardio is phenomenal. Once he shift into gear in the later rounds he could pose a huge threat to Pitbull whose reserve tank is questioned.
Pitbull may look to take Curran down this fight after seeing him struggle on the ground against Daniel Straus in their two previous fights, however if Curran keeps it standing the fight undoubtedly favours him.
2. Brennan Ward ($4800) - 26 year old Ward impressed Bellator fans last season after tearing through the Middleweight tournament only to be submitted by Alexander Shlemenko in his title opportunity.
The Irish Bad Boy fights with a tremendous stand up ability, however he has occasionally shown weakness on the ground, which is something Tamdan McCrory will look to exploit. However his fearless nature of fighting should see him stroll past McCrory with definitive ease.
3. Mike Wessel ($4600) - This week's underdog, 21 fight veteran Mike Wessel (14-7) faces a stern test in Josh Diekmann (14-5). After stopping Justin Frazier last time out, he moves onto the equally as tough fighter, dubbed "The Freight Train" due to his stature.
Wessel may struggle with Diekmann, who tends to throw a lot of bombs, however if Wessel elects to take this fight to the ground for some old fashioned ground and pound he can take the victory here.
4. Muhammed Lawal ($5500) - With three different opponents scheduled has had a difficult fight preparation, but will now face Dustin Jacoby (10-3). After a frustrating decision loss to Rampage Jackson, King Mo (12-4) is looking to rebound with an impressive win over Jacoby.
Both men match up similar, with standup backgrounds, Jacoby the GLORY ranked fighter will try to push the pace but King Mo will use his counter punches to try and make quick work of this as he turns his focus back to avenging his loss to Rampage.
5. Rico DiSciullo ($4800) - When both men first met back at Bellator 110 it looked as if DiSciullo (2-0-1NC)would pick up the win after he embarked on a vicious onslaught of Marvin Maldonado (2-1-1NC). However the fight was declared a no contest after it had been found that those strikes were illegal blows and Maldonado couldn't continue.
Now the two face again, DiSciullo with anger of him clearly dominating his opponent but not being able to walk away with the way, and Maldonado who will want to exact revenge for his previous beating.
As the crisper striker, DiSciullo should take this one, although Maldonado states a good BJJ game.
So don’t forget to join in with Bellator 123 in our exclusive Kountermove tournament: http://www.kountermove.com/draft/31829-kingdommmas-25-bellator-123-curran-vs-pitbull-2-freeroll-game-on-bellator-123-curran-vs-pitbull-2-T-free/325858/
