A new Cage Warriors Bantamweight Champion will be crowned this weekend yet the one man many expected to be stepping in the cage in the co-main event in Wales, Brett Johns will be watching from the side line.

"For me I'm still the champ, I know I made one mistake and lost the belt for breaking that rule. I deserve that belt more than anyone else. I was not beaten so its up to them to question when they go to bed at night if they are really the champion" says Johns, and its hard to argue.

After an impressive 2013 which seen Johns, a Judo black belt fight 4 times on route to winning the Cage Warriors Bantamweight title, Johns was stripped of his title for missing weight in an April bout against James Brum, a bout which the 22-year-old Swansea native dominated to move to 10-0 in his career.  He will now watch Cory Tait and Toni Tauru square off for his 135lb strap in what he says is punishment for missing weight against Brum:

"To be honest I wasn't shocked, I know I failed to weigh in and so lost the belt and this is part of the punishment for that." says Johns adding, he feels he should be next to face to winner "I think (I'll be next) but to be honest there are lots of good guys in the bantamweight division even guys like Ronnie Mann who is coming off a loss could only be one or two wins away from a shot himself."

When it comes to the strengths of both men who will be competing for the title Johns is very complementary of both mens skill sets and although he has his prediction for who will win come fight night he could easily see the fight going the other way.

"Tait is a very good stand up guy with lovely kicks. I would say his kicks are better than his boxing but Tauru is a very good guy with a more mixed style. I think he has fought the tougher fighters not that Tait has fought easy guys but I think Tauru has finished better guys. He even beat Emil Hartsner in the first round by gogoplata."

"I predict Tauru will win a decision victory, however I would not be surprised if Tait gets the win. Its a great fight and I will be there on September 13th to watch." No doubt eyeing the winner as a potential future opponent.
